When did you last look up? When was the last time you let yourself get lost in the drifting clouds, the constellations of the night sky? These serene moments seem fleeting in our lives. SONG OF THE SKY completes the trilogy of my pieces for land, sea, and sky. This is my attempt at writing more simplistic yet emotional music. The piece has virtually only one melodic line, with various yet straightforward accompanying left-hand figures. Because of the phrases' unconventional structure, the listener can lose their sense of the downbeat, as if they are lost in a daydream; measures seem to bleed into one another until you finally “snap out of the dream.”
